Surfaces debut album is full of sunny island feels. Steel drums, Caribbean beats, xylophones; they all give this album that toes in the water feel. I really like this album, well the first half at least. The way the airy bossanova intro track transitions to the Jazzy "Be Alright" is great. They then go back to the Bossanova style on the immaculate "24 / 7 / 365". That song is damn near perfect in the way it assembled and recorded. Doesn't hurt that I do love me some ... read more

As I expected, this album pretty much just sounds like their other two releases. A lot of the songs sound pretty nice, but I feel that they just play it way too safe. I'm a basic bitch tho so I still enjoy it.

Least favorite: Islands
