Think something along the lines of John Mayer collaborating with the Postal Service, and you'll get a nice sense of the '80s adult-contemporary pop and indie electronic vibes Surfaces conjure on Pacifico.
Unless they change their artistic direction, Surfaces will continue to underwhelm, disappoint, and be drab.
2017's Surf was the world's introduction to the band, with a lo-fi production style that suited both vocalists, Forrest Frank and Alexa Padalecki. They started out as a cute, lofi beachy group and this album they took a more soulless pop-trap approach that you hear on the radio all the time. Disappointing.
