Six months after their debut album, this follow-up repeated the formula, with less success, of combining versions of other Motown stars’ hits, such as Stevie Wonder and the Miracles, with songs written for the Jacksons by the creative team, the ‘Corporation’, of which Berry Gordy was a quarter. Of the latter, the two standout hits were ‘ABC’, which dislodged the Beatles’ ‘Let it Be’ from number 1, and opening track ‘The Love You Save’.
