first proper album in eight years from the prolific and eclectic singer song-writer from the backwoods of Maine. their strength is the fine balance struck between structure and flow, with freak folk guitar melodies interwoven with jazzy bass lines, stylophone, mellotron, or a wall of synth. lyrics are simultaneously mundane and opaquely ominous, like a Shirley Jackson story. a compelling listen and proof that less is more, when you have total command of your less.
