A far cry from the "Chicago Bowls" sound... Well besides a sound clip here and there. The joy and exuberance has decayed and become jaded. Muck is in its essence a safe place to park your "Brand New" sound love since they got canceled.
Seems like the band is burdened by this, yet willing to take on the challenge, at the cost of losing their individuality and emotive foundation rooted in midwest emo twinkling mathy tendencies.
This album is good from an instrumental standpoint, but memorable vocal melodies are sparse, so much of the attraction to the record, for me at least, comes from the guitar work and the powerful and crunchy "wall of sound."
