Alan Jackson has a lovely, loping voice, like a confident man's walk. His ninth album, Drive, hits all the country cliches with amiable accuracy.
Here we are, Jackson's return to what works. Where his previous two albums were a bit of a slip in comparison to his early career, 2002's 'Drive' brings him right back up (even if he dominated the charts regardless of what I think). After getting a little heavy on teams of Nashville songwriters, Jackson takes back the reins and writes eight and co-writes another in his most personal record in a while.

Pretty standard country album from that time period. His voice and the songwriting really elevate this though. Most of these songs just sound impeccable.
