On Renegade, Thin Lizzy clearly aren't trying their hardest. Some songs still feel rather pointless, although others such as Angel of Death and Renegade are pretty interesting and actually take things in a different direction for Thin Lizzy. Besides these two songs, Thin Lizzy don't really expand their sound at all, as this is a pretty standard hard rock. Ok, with the loss of their guitarist, you can definitely sense a dip here. Not jarring, but coming off of that hot streak since Vagabond, it's clearly not up to what you'd expect at this point. Still enjoyable enough! (7/10)
So far since Black Rose, we just gone downhill, and the trend continues with this album too. I though Snowy White did a great job on Chinatown, and he still does good here, but this album got me to realize just how much the band lost when Gary Moore quit. Besides the big popular tracks, the title track Renegade and Hollywood (Down on your Luck), there aren't many great songs to be found.
