It's groovy, politically engaged and musically very cool. Especially the acoustic 'Vocab.' It walks a very smooth line between Anger and Fun. Angry lyrics with a joyous, funky melody. I Like it.
Mid album. Fugees: the trio of Lauryn Hill, Wyclef Jean and Pras in 1994 dropped their first album. 70 minutes long project including 18 songs. The genre of this is Boom Bap and Hip-Hop. I don't expect that sound of this. By text they aren't the best: after listening with text before my eyes I don't know what this is about: some disgusting love songs, some about MCs, some about immigration. This album is about everything. Beats by Pras, Wyclef Jean, HazeBanga and Ronald Bell are ... read more
Huge snooze fest. I really don't have much to say. Shouts out from the block is one of the worst things i've ever heard.

I admire how different this was from everything else at the time. But man this did not age well at all and everything from the rapping to the production to the skits are infinitely better on The Score. Not an album I think I will revisit often.

Blunted on reality is Fugees debut album, this album brings really good rapping but the production gets repetitive fast and the album has way too much skits from 18 songs only 13 are really songs and not skits, even though it only has 13 songs the connection between the trio is really good and for a debut album in the 90s is nice
Dios, estaba deseando que se acabara y apenas iba por la mitad del álbum 😭🙏
Si te duermes pierdes nivel jesucristo.
Absolutely incredible flows
How the fuck do people talk shit about this
I mean yeah a lot of skits but that's not smth bad
A really fun album.Lauryn Hill might be one of my favorite rappers.
Re-Review: *is (80=>85).
It was fun, but it has its weak tracks and there's not enough bangers. Good debut anyways.
Before The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill and The Score, there was Blunted on Reality, a project that showed more potential for the Fugees and their future above all else. It’s not a masterpiece by any means, but it’s still a respectable display across the board.
The Fugees sound raw and scrappy here, with some fine-tuning still left to be done in terms of their overall sound — but also more than enough firepower to make up for it. This set the perfect stage for the group to ... read more
Their first album and sadly no near on the level of their sophomore masterpiece 2 years later. It’s a solid debut but it’s sadly very flawed. A lot of the songs run on for too long, the production is very dated and their chemistry just isn’t as cohesive and strong as it would become two years later. Like The Score, Lauryn Hill clearly was the MVP of the album which is to be expected for a talented artist like her. Wyclef and Pras still do their thing too. Good album but sadly ... read more
Not my favorite album and by far not any of the individual artists best work, but it is an enjoyable listen nonetheless, its full of energy and a unique sound that the group defines better in their sophomore album The Score.
Criminally underrated album-- definitely worth a listen! Lauryn's verses on Some seek stardom, vocab, and temple are the highlights, wyclef is no slouch either on blunted interlude. Honestly was very surprised with how much I liked it. The score is better but not by too much in my opinion. Production is super nice, great beats, but can be a bit hard to understand them at times.
It's alright, nothing outstanding but even in this Onyx derivative album you can hear some hints as to how excellent all three members really were even back then. The more relaxed songs on this are definitely the standouts, such as Vocab, Some Seek Stardom, and the remixed version of Nappy Heads. Lauren steals the show as usual but Pras and Wyclef are both very impressive vocalists all the same. Give it a listen if you like the Fugees or any of their solo work but otherwise you're fine skipping ... read more
Great flow, production, and lyricism. However, some songs and interludes tend to drag on too long.
Some catchy songs but there a quite a lot of boring long songs.

High energy, Caribbean flavoured 90s Hip-Hop. Far from the strongest lyrically, it is musically original enough to remain entertaining.
