The setlist for Dive balances several old A-sides against a welter of new material, all of it crisp and gorgeous.
If that nicely detailed tranquility is Dive's biggest selling point, it also exposes a nagging flaw, which is a lack of tension.
One thing to remember about 2011 was it was the height of trap and dubstep in so many ways. tycho has some very good atmosphere throughout this album, and it proves to be its biggest selling point. if you want to turn your brain off and get lost in sound, this is a very good album to do so with

In the 5 years it took to make Dive, Tycho went through a couple of changes that would really improve his work and help him form an identity of his own. One of the most important of these changes was the inclusion of live instrumentation, like guitars, giving more texture and depth to the sound, that would eventually lead to the Tycho project transforming into a trio, although still masterminded by Scott Henson.
