Loeb and Patino do a great job of churning out smart and accessible pop nuggets; four- minute chunks of love, life and heart that don't leave you needing sherbet to cleanse your palette in between tracks.
There are a number of strong moments on the record that confirm Loeb is a talented melodicist when pushed -- but if she wants to make a great record, she simply needs a little more direction.
Loeb was a bit of a pale indie-imitation from the start: like her debut Tails, Firecracker is underwhelming and middlebrow, overproduced and pointlessly moody.
Firecracker might signify that Loeb's star is fading; it's equally likely, though, that this second album is merely the sound of a songwriter stumbling toward adulthood with a sophomore's two left feet.
This album is pretty strong overall and is the spiritual successor to Lisa Loeb's 1st album "Tails". Fav tracks : Falling In Love, How, Furious Rose, Wishing Heart, Dance With The Angels, Jake, Firecracker, Split Second
