It’s the view of the nomad in action, rather than a carefully curated selection of highlights upon his return.
There’s no one that’s going to be declaring this a modern classic, but with this strong debut, Young Magic have cemented themselves as a band to watch in the coming years.
If you wait long enough, you will be rewarded, but if you have to wait too long, then it probably means that this isn't an album for you.
It's a cushy listen, if not only always distinctive, particularly since the shorter tracks often amount to a cooled, deep-blue gelatin that holds the previously released singles together.
There is also a naivety and an ostensible lack of ideas on side two and so whether Melt has come too early or if it simply represents an innate inability to focus remains to be seen.
As it stands today, they’re just another band doing a very familiar thing – at least they’re doing it really well.
