It's Deftones-y way way too much, but it's enjoyable. I'm not into the 3 minute wait to get to the final track, but that's my major gripe beyond the sonic similarities.
Dimphonic aren't ashamed of wearing influences on their sleeves, and Nur5e is a statement of that, even if sometimes it's almost like you're listening to a tribute band. I hear Deftones, Tool and Glassjaw all over the record, and I usually don't mind bands showing off their influences, but this is a bit too much faithful for me to put a higher score. I actually like it, people just don't like how unoriginal it seems because of their insanely large influences. I actually genuinely thought this was another Chino Moreno side project when I heard Queen Yield, because the singer sounds just like Chino and the project sounds like if Palms' self titled album met Deftones' Gore (?) but I respect it and I know I will come back to this album... on my playlist.
Pretty damn good debut if you ask me.
