I don't know if it is the terrible vocal processing or the clunky beats in every song, but this is a pretty bland mini-album. Kang Daniel just doesn't have the voice to really put much life into the songs and any semblance of emotion is blockaded by strange autotune choices. Yellow is the final album in Daniel's color trilogy where he explored a range of genres, mostly EDM, pop and R&B. This is the most personal of the three as in each song he discusses the mental struggles he went through as being the victim of intense cyber bullying.
My personal favorite is Save U which is dark but hopeful, Daniel's vocals really shine and Wonstein's rap is a great addition. The sound of the choir in the background makes me imagine how great this song will be in concert. ... read more
'YELLOW' is a very intimate album, written like a personal diary. All the songs evokes a part of a lived moment that led him to depression, social anxiety and panic disorder. We enter in the privacy of mind of the artist Kang Daniel and he deliver us beautiful raw emotions and cry from heart. A overall heartwrenching album, with beautiful melodies and meaningful lyrics which is so rare in the Korean idols world and always greatly appreciated.
