This album rips right off the playbook for After The Burial in everything but the choruses, which are pretty squeaky clean. In my opinion, the choruses ruin the momentum for almost all the songs, which all start great. Hopefully Ghost Iris finds their niche in a future album/song and pull more songs like "Paper Tiger", but for now, this will just be a decent to good album for me.
Its pretty interesting tbh, as it goes more chug than the usual metalcore act, but for the life of me, my monke brain just shuts off everytime they interspace those thick meaty chugs with weak, generic cleans. Its not that cleans are inherently bad, but I don't get why they'd want to appeal to a broader audience with cleans, which I think was the intention of those cleans being there.
