AllMusic
This is a record that maintains its momentum from beginning to end, punctuated by such fine singles as "Hit 'Em Up Style (Oops!)," and even though those singles remain the standouts, even the album tracks showcase the depth of Cantrell's considerable talents.

Bluesy but modern, Cantrell belts it out with the immediacy and energy of a hard-bop trumpet player. Although at times her flashy vocal stylings obscure the songs’ emotional depth, this woman has a story to tell.

Best: Hit' Em up Style (Oops)

I still prefer her 03 album but this is a strong introduction to Cantrell and her has only number one hit. Hit Em Opps who ironically also appears on her second album.

On this album there is no song as catchy as 'Breathe', that her second and final album has, but this is more consistent. Some of the best songs on here', Hit 'Em Up Style (Ooops!)', 'All You Had to Say' and 'Swingin'', are also on her second album, so I don't recommend it as much, but there are still lots of good moments that maybe give Blu a chance to shine a little more vocally.

Best Tracks: Hit 'Em Up Style (Ooops!), U Must B Crazy, I'll Find a Way, Swingin', All You Had to Say, So Blu
