For fans who don’t have the time to sit through all six hours of The Blacklist, some tracks are worth checking out more than others.

Ultimately, this is a towering show of force that underscores how, unlike any other band in history, Metallica have transcended heavy metal and emerged as one of music’s greatest cultural exports. And while nobody’s going to love all the versions on The Metallica Blacklist, there’s a track for every person, mood and playlist. It’s one hell of a fun ride.

The Metallica Blacklist is fantastic for cherry-picking tracks from your favorite artists or listening in on the more outlandish interpretations of metal classics, but taken as a whole, it's daunting to the point of making even the highlights difficult to appreciate.

Once it’s all over, with the help of a decent online support group, or a saint’s patience, you can pick out a fantastic tribute to one of metal’s sacred texts. Maybe even two.

The Blacklist ... runs to a self-aggrandising 53 tracks. A handful work, either by overhauling the source material ... or because the artists sound at ease with their chosen tunes.

Yes, I listened to the entire thing. It was fine. There were some great tracks, some terrible ones, some hilarious ones, but it was just waaay too long for a project that is mostly 7/10 songs. It's fun hearing some 2010s bro-country guy cover Wherever I May Roam, it's fun hearing some east coast hip hop group cover The Unforgiven, but I don't really wanna hear 10 different renditions of the same song in a row. Fucking hell why did I even do this

For the 30th anniversary of the release of their best selling album "the black album" metallica decided to get some crirically acclaimed artists such as weezer, ghost, rina sawayama, st.
