From the big, catchy choruses begging for sing-alongs to the chilling, swelling strings, Elsewhere is proof that pushing the limits can produce exciting results.
I used to overrate the hell out of this thing, and probably still am. Elsewhere is one of those pop rock albums that makes you say “I can’t tell if this is awesome or sucks ass” on first listen, but the second time around you say “eh, I guess it’s in the middle”. Set It Off really need to stick with the heavier rock style, their single ‘Punching Bag’ is cool as hell, but most of this is…well, fine, cheesy and dumb, but sounds fine. The ... read more
edit: originally an 85. Album wore off a bit and some songs sting a bit to listen to now due to funny personal haha reasons lol
My high-school pop-punk phase has returned from the grave to welcome me back with Elsewhere, the newest album from Set It Off.

Set It Off have proven that Midnights was not a fluke, they can in fact make good pop rock! Elsewhere continues to bring that dark edge featured on the last album, and even the songs that are more pop are pretty damn good. There is this weirdness to this album that I really, really like; the aesthetic of some of these songs makes me think of Alice In Wonderland which is pretty cool! It makes sense that the songs I like the most have a bit of that whimsy to them.
I don't think Cody's ... read more
