What really reigns supreme on Devil Without a Cause is a love of pile-driving, classic hard rock, not just that of hometown hero Bob Seger, but Lynyrd Skynyrd, Van Halen, and faceless arena rock ballads.

If you like nu-metal you’ll like this, although if you’re a fan of the genre you probably own it, but if you think Linkin Park and Papa Roach started it all buy this and discover where the nu-generation came back to the mainstream.

A trailer trash triumph of metal guitars, hip-hop beats, and I'm-an-American-band egomania.

The hook is that Devil Without A Cause combines rap with metal, but this combination's already been done a million times, and in each case, the result was better than this. Do you really need predictable pimping rhymes over wack-ass metal beats with third- tier, grunge- derived choruses among your records? I ask you: is this what you're missing from your life?

Regretting The Past Albums
Album Number 15.

In almost every RTP episode he shows a comparison of a band or album that's extremely good that was either just as or a lot less successful than the one he is talking about. Wanna know what the super good album that sold only just as much as this one was, do ya? Well it's Nirvana's Nevermind... yeah. I'm not gonna lie, I had fun with this album. Some of it was pure stupidity (primarily in its lyrics), but still fun none the less. "Bawitdaba" is a guilty pleasure of mine, but I can't take it seriously at all. I actually fucked with the production a lot on this album. The mix of rock, country, hip-hop, nu metal & even funk I thought was executed pretty well for the most part.

The biggest flaws though is definitely Kid Rock himself. His production here is good but his ... read more

idk whether I unrionically or ironically like this album, like some of the songs are solid and the production is... decent? but kid rock's braggadocious persona gets REALLY old and some of the tracks go on for just a minute too long, im not really sure. ill just leave it at a 5/10 for now
