These guys are simply going through the motions and whether I like it or not, people are going to eat this up.
Great record, notable for "Papyrus...." which has a title longer than its run time but also just very consistent.
"What Can Be Safely Written" gets rolling, great use of traditional sounds and instrumentation to begin, really setting the tone as the their trademark thick sound envelops. Thw most underrated and so far my favourite Nile record. Every son is absolutely fantastic, while the production is indeed pretty off I kinda adore it, the nasty guitar tone works in it's favour and the drums are fantastic. Masterfully written and without a single bad moment.
Ithyphallic showcases Nile doing a more doomy and slower vibe, in contrast to their previous album. While I prefer the faster and more intense sound, this doesn't let down. The unfortunate truth is that this album comes right between two of their best ones, which makes me sometimes forget Ithyphallic exists. I wish this album had a beefier sound production, the doomy and heavy atmosphere would benefit greatly. The riffs on here are super good though
