Every song on Clouds is distinct in its own way.
I miss when collecting was able to consume me. R.I.P. Second Spin, I found this for like 6 bucks.
They began dropping the death metal from their sound here. "In A Dream" opens with slow mystical flame. The little acoustic riff is smooth, nice big drums enter soon after. A good heavy riff gives it some backbone, the slow to mid tempo pacing fits. The subtle synth melodies give a smooth layer as well. The faster passage adds some depth as well, nothing crazy but a very pleasant start. ... read more
Although not on the same level as the album which followed it, Clouds sees the last before their took a more gothic center approach to their metal sound for a deathd oom metal album which does get overlooked a bit and with some really omnious vocals by Johan which i actually like and some great slow building and mysterious instrumentals, clouds is a conistently good record which doesn't necessary impresse me as much as other death doom metal acts.

The band gives preference to vocals, by putting them on the foreground, of the majority of the songs, although, it mostly overwhelms over the instrmental and forms the album's atmosphere, as drained and weak collection songs. However, musically, it's a well-written record - compared to other noteworthy metal projects, by the time of it's release, Clouds is both raw and accessible at the same time. To top it all off, it's a fine record, but extremely limited in sound.
