If you weren’t a fan of OVERKILL by now, you still won’t be by the end of the album. Those who do love the band and their back catalogue however are in for a treat; Scorched is riff city.
Ultimately, even if you don't agree with a single word of the above, most anyone with functional ears can all find plenty of value on Scorched.
It finds Overkill going back to their roots with some nostalgic treats for long-time fans, and it even offers a few surprises as it curb stomps you into a bloody pulp in a seedy back alley.
At first a lot of these songs seemed pretty decent to me but not enough to call it good, but then I started hearing the same guitar parts over and over again and my brain has slowly been melting since. It's by no means a bad metal album but I just can't connect with the guy's voice and reusing stuff from other songs is pretty lazy. Sounds like the front-man of AC/DC found a metal side gig to also run deep into the ground. Too repetitive and a bit annoying for me unfortunately.

The riffs are easily the best part of the album. But the vocals don’t hold up well here, but that’s my main complaint. Other than that, this is a good album. Still having that old-school sound to them, with elements of Judas Priest and Megadeth in here. The ... read more
I'm glad they decided to think about their material a bit longer than they intended in the first place. I have a feeling that it would be on the same level as Wings of War if not the postponements. But hey, we're back. At least to some extent. They're still themselves, and they still sound good.
Honestly one of their better releases, definitely better than Wings of War. People are saying all of the songs sound similar on this album, and while that is kinda true, compared to some of this band's previous releases, these songs are as different as night and fucking day honestly, especially over the last few albums. This album has interesting riffs, great bass and drumming, great production, it's pretty heavy actually, way more memorable than most of the last few albums, and ... read more
