Once again, Annihilator come back with another decent album, but one that mostly plays it safe and sticks to roughly the same formula as the previous two. When it gets good, it gets good, with some of the band's best material in a very long time, but it's balanced out by a few songs that definitely don't really add much to the album as a whole. It's well produced, with the production making it quite heavy, actually, the riffs are fun and energetic, the vocals are decent, the ... read more
Better than Suicide Society, but not by much. This band's modern material with Jeff Waters on lead vocals, has become probably the band's most consistent era in years, and honestly it leaves me with hope for this band's future. There is occasionally the odd song I'm not huge on, the main issue with this era is that some of the songs here are definitely more filler, but this era also has some of their best songs in years at this point, so I'm not too mad about it. ... read more
The first time Jeff Waters sang for this band, I wasn't much of a fan. I much preferred the vocalists that came before him, as well as the one came after him. This time, however, I foud myself liking his voice much more. I still have my issues with him of course, he's still my least favourite Annihilator vocalist, but he isn't anywhere near as annoying here as he has been in the past. Songwriting wise, the album is kinda inconsistent, with some great tracks with great performances, and some that I just do not fuck with at all. The whole album feels way more inspired ... read more
I'm getting kinda sick of writing pretty much the same review for every Padden era Annihilator album, but they pretty much genuinely are all just the same, even if I do think they are getting marginally better with every release. This is the first Padden album where I can actually take the whole thing seriously all the way through, and it's generally the strongest performance Padden has given as well, even if he is still the least interesting vocalist this band has had.
