CHOMPO I is an album that has a lot charm of with the pure nostalgia for the dubstep sound.
But there is too much gimmick with this compilation, vocal samples are weird, and some great songs here are too short or end in the best moments. And the whole thing kinda gives you everything at the beginning.
I still think there is a lot of potential here but this isn't it.
Tokyo Machine's style has always felt somewhat gimmicky and frankly limited in what it could do-- being far more suited to the single than the album-- and while there definitely is an effort made on this project to remedy this issue, I just don't know if it quite succeeded much of the time. This album was a mixed bag for me, while it had iconic songs like "Happy Trails" and "SOMEONE", a lot of it felt underproduced and kind of cheap, with it's video-game style feeling underwhelming (where it only subtracts from the songs), especially when paired with the kind of cheesy method of promotion this album had. So while I loved these two tracks in particular, the whole album as a whole is not what I'd call "amazing" for me.
