First thing about this album is that it rather branches out of Barely Alive's typical riddim stuff. As the name suggests, the classic Virtual Riot songs. While not mindblowing by todays standards, you can see how Virtual Riot defined a lot of the electronic tropes we see today being one of the most influential and respected bass artists. Solid album.
I can't help but think that this type of EDM with fusion of other styles has gained popularity in 2023 and 2024, and this is great another to that list. It has touches of rock, hyperpop, and a bunch of what makes Porter Robinson's songs so great. The lead in the song is well-designed and creates really well the hollow, angsty feel of the whole song. Emotional album with incredible atmosphere all around. I can't say I listen to this type of music often but it certainly was an innovative and exceptional experience. Great album.
Impressive album from Louie Zong, has always enjoyed his singles and gland to see this neat album. All the instrumentation sound great and my only complaint is that some songs sound more on the typical side. Regardless nice album to listen to.
