EndEx can be hilariously heavy at times and the songwriting is very strong, managing to amalgamate the core ideas from their last two albums to make something fresh.
EndEx plays up its industrial nature. And thanks to their collaboration with co-producer DOOM composer Mick Gordon, the whole experience is a dense, odd, and slightly off-putting effort — in the best way possible.
EndEx is a great body of work that anyone with an interest in the likes of Rob Zombie, among the many other similar artists, should be looking to add to their collection.
EndEx doesn’t win many points for going where no band has gone before. The album, and its creators, do deserve credit for continuing the Fear Factory tradition, as an industrial metal band preoccupied with questions of how technological advancements adversely affect our lives.
I heard this was an album to listen to if you like industrial metal, so I thought I better give it a go. This really reminds me of some of those bands I use to listen to in the late 90's/early 00's. Honestly I think I prefer the ones that blend more electronic into their sounds than the heavier albums. Shoutout to fellow Australian; Mick Gordon! I do have an urge to watch Hackers (1995) now.
Standouts: Slum Planet, ALI3N, Paralyze, Drift
Gritty, plodding, industrial that sets a disgusting but amazing atmosphere. Collaborations with Doom's Mick Gordon add the extra flair that EndEx needs to stand out. It's industrial with pacing. It's not high volume and speed at all times. There is a mood and pace set. It's a post-apocalyptic album about the dangers of technology leading to a dark future.
