Borknagar's beginnings show a fairly different band than the one they would become. Songs here are more rooted in primal black metal with a great deal of viking influence. The more progressive elements that define their later sound are really just shown in remnants here.
Even still, this is an awesome black metal album with excellent epic instrumental tracks spliced between traditional songs. Definitely a Norwegian classic of the genre.

The very best that black metal has to offer. Beautifully melodic, yet haunting riffs. Great drumming and nasty horrible vocals. Don't know if they are sketch at all and I'm currently on my mobile data, but if they are, I will take back this review.

Old school black metal album! I love these that have wierd piano or slow pieces between the Black Metal songs. It sets the tone down and the next fast song hits way better and it dont make the songs blend together like many metal album does.
