Urd is tons of fun. I love Borknagar's revelry in various apocalyptic and post-apocalyptic scenarios- particularly the anarcho-primitivist spirit within 'The Beauty of Dead Cities.' There's an undercurrent of grand tragedy, overwhelmed by swells of relief and celebration- this hint of bittersweetness is used primarily as set dressing for the catastrophic scene, which Borknagar establish with wonderful immersiveness. Borknagar are experts at creating cold and sunny atmospheres filled with flowers and grass struggling to get out of the ice. The tremolo will accompany you throughout the album, the melodies on the guitar will be varied and the exchange between guttural and clean voices will leave you wondering what comes next. Very beautiful choruses with folk overtones, they are easy to learn and therefore easy to sing. They are made for that.
