I do feel like Coal is quite a step-back from Bilateral writing-wise. There's no denying Einar has fantastic vocals, but I think it was a mistake for this album to primarily focus on them. There are less interesting instrumental sections here, all in favor of showcasing Einar's great vocals. The djenty, syncopated chugging is such a stale choice, and to see that plastered all over this album really made this grow off me. So while this may be catchy and ... read more
"Coal" es una obra maestra y de lo mejor del metal progresivo de la deacada anterior. Personalmente, lo que mas me atrapo del album son las tan magnificas vocales, cada cancion tiene momentos vocales gigantes. Sobre los riffs, me parece que son una genialidad tras otra. Lo recomiendo altamente, de lo mejor del prog metal moderno.
Yet another prog metal album I've absolutely fallen in love with upon first listen and just like From Mars to Sirius and Colors, much of that comes down to just how LARGER THAN LIFE it feels. My only real complaint with this project is that there are quite a few ooos and aaahs coming from Einar and at some points it almost feels as though they're just there to fill space. But even so that doesn't stop his voice from being absolutely GORGEOUS and just when you think it starts to get even the ... read more
The Valley is one of my favorite Leprous songs ever. The album, as a whole, is excellent though perhaps not the band's absolute best cover to cover effort. Contaminate Me is a stunning finale, especially as a fan of Ihsahn as well. Find the video of the band playing the track live with Ihsahn, it's a jaw-dropper. No song alone is bad but the trio of Foe, The Cloak, and Salt drop the average just a bit.
yeah leprous are one of my favourite bands/artists of all time. every single album i've heard from them is phenomenal, and this is no different. as per usual, einar's vocals are on point, and there is a lot of variety on here from head bangers like coal to more pretty songs like salt/echo. my issue with this album is that there are quite a lot of filler segments with the same melody and "ahhs" from einar.
We keep going back in time through Leprous’ discography.
I like this one, that was a great listening, The valley / Echo very very good, maybe the congregation deserve to be a little higher than this one ...
