This record truly continues Borknagar’s signature sound, blending progressive metal, black metal, and folk metal elements to lead to something that showcases the best of what they’re capable of.

Distorted Sound

Fall is the masterful culmination of nearly three decades of work, a testament to the dedication of Brun and BORKNAGAR at large to pushing black metal’s envelopes beyond its cavernous boundaries.

The sound of greatness is overwhelming.

Metal Hammer
On the lavish sprawl of Stars Ablaze and moonlit rabble-rouser Nordic Anthem, they sound nothing less than transcendent.

Angry Metal Guy

In the end, Fall is beautifully rounded, flowing like icy water through the fjords.

Fall proves that Borknagar is a band that, even 12 albums in, can still deliver fresh material enrobed in their signature sound.

Usually, I can't listen to every type of clean vocal album, but Borknagar's album truly fulfilled all my needs, combining Atmospheric, Melodic, Aggressive, and Thunderous elements. It beautifully conveyed the essence of an outstanding Progressive Viking/Folk/Black Metal band to me.

How did I miss this release? Since everyone will soon be making their top albums of 2025, I went through some people’s 2024 best metal albums to see what I missed last year, and saw this one coming up. The cleans are addictive on this thing. It’s a gorgeous journey. LOVED IT.

Fall's chords flow like a frozen river in my veins. They move peacefully between one another, creating beautiful, folkloric melodies and then welcoming darkness and brutality with gutturals and the most classic elements of black metal. It is an album that almost reaches perfection: progressive, dynamic and very enjoyable. Soft and harsh moments alike.
