The cold water ripples against my waist... I bathe, half-submerged in the liquid frost.
I begin to, slowly, sink in...
The icy grey lake swallows up my form, and I float uncertainly, slowly sinking to the bottom.
The flowing ice invades my orifices. The sand caresses my back. The surface lights dance upon my face.
...May I ever resurface again?

Yet another beautiful ambient and colorful album from Opals. While it's pretty similar to the previous album, Shimmering, it's also quite different from it. Shimmering, to me, sounded a lot more smoother. There was rarely a moment where the production became distorted or rough. On Diffractions, it's the opposite. The production is a lot more "dirty" and rough, which is a critique, as it actually is a benefit for the album ... read more
Really soothing but one thing I would like is if the tracks were broken up a bit. A 19 minute song followed by a 12 minute one isn't very welcoming for an album, other than that, this album is really pretty and nicely produced.
I really like the slow buildup on the first track, it's very serene and relaxing to listen to. It creates a really nice atmosphere and is just pleasant to listen to. Pleasant is the word that comes to mind when I hear production like this, it isn't something I listen to ... read more
