This is just as unrelenting as their first EP, but just a little bit more brutal and better for it. I like it more than the first EP, the songs just hit a little harder here. Plus, bonus points for the toilet bowl gutturals, the vocal features are sick. It's absolutely crazy to me that the singer from Moodring, a Deftones-core band, is in this band too. Talk about versatility.
A Further Showing of Violence" hits with a a very brutal old-school focus similar to Acrania or Annotations of An Autopsy, love the pinches and overall tone. Crushing breakdown riffs with good bounce. The breakdown before the 2 minute mark is lovely.
"Straitjacket Afterbirth" hits with more old school brutality, I love the no frills approach as this is the type of Deathcore that I grew up with. Great frantic energy, I like the hardcore/beatdown quality in the second half. The ... read more
THE ULTIMATE METAL CHALLENGE - Deathcore
Deathcore is perhaps one of the most obtuse and, I suppose, “historic” metal genres that’s gone through a lot of growth for the 20 or so years it's been around. Crazy deathcore record that ive had my eyes on for a bit, i did not know psychoframe was gonna hit this hard
Timmy Tuff Knuckles: The Album
OK, I make it no secret that I can't stand deathcore, but I really don't want to dislike it. I'm really trying to find albums in the genre that I do like, and when I heard this album described as a MySpace deathcore era revival of sorts, I got kinda excited. But lo, it's so mid.
It's like it tries to be super raw and insane sounding, but the mix just makes that entire effort fall flat on its face. The kick has zero thump; it's ... read more
Well, given this killer EP and their 2025 album, I think it's safe to say that PSYCHO-FRAME are one of the best contemporary bands in the genre of deathcore. Every song on here just mercilessly beats you down until you can't take any more, and the riffs are consistently great. Pretty short project so I don't have much to say beyond that, but for sure worth checking out if you're a fan of deathcore in any way.
