It’s easy to be cynical about bonus material and repackaging, but this deluxe edition is a worthy glow-up for an already stellar album, with great new songs and wonderful live versions representative of the energy Rakei and his band bring to the stage.

The Loop is his most profound and accomplished achievement to date, a landmark from which he can move on with his head held high.

The Loop emerges as a worthwhile musical journey in which soul-pop’s Jordan Rakei reveals some universal truths he’s unearthed in his ongoing life story.

Having only heard Jordan Rakei on Bonobo's 'Shadows' and Loyle Carner's 'Ottolenghi' before this, I really enjoyed my first exposure to a full album from him. I love lead single 'Flowers' just as much as I did when it first dropped and the other singles have also grown on me, especially 'Friend Or Foe' which sounds like a Hozier song in the best possible way. If this album were by Frank Ocean, it would be at the top of almost everyone's list.

Other than that though I absolutely love this album. Specifically Flowers, Everything Everything and Little Life are songs I’ve listened to a lot since this ... read more

It falls off a bit after State of Mind but it was still overall really good. Trust was an absolute masterpiece and the rest of the first half contained some great basslines and hypnotic drum grooves. Overall not as good as Jordan's debut, but I'm glad he's still experimenting and making new things.
Highlights: Trust, Forgive, Flowers
Low Points: Royal, Hopes and Dreams
