Being classy is really not for everyone, but Taeko Ohnuki really got this in the bag. What a wonderful woman, awesome voice and brilliant lyricist even though I understand nothing she's saying, I can translate every single feeling she's emulating in every single song. It is completely nostalgic and full of happy tunes with some great ballads as well.

Mignonne is a solid record for that time and even with some songs being a little bit safe with the city pop sound there is still a strong vibe and atmosphere built with every track. The songs here are catchy and memorable. The instrumentation is well done and works well with great vocals. I hope there was more to this album than being your standard city pop album, but aside from that, this album is pretty good.
Taeko Ōnuki perfectly encapsulates a brisk summer night in "Mignonne". It's soft, but also jazzy and full of sweet melodies and vocals. It's a simple album, but has some of the sweetest sounds from the earliest forms of city pop and although artists like Tatsuro Yamashita and Anri brought boogie into the genre, Ōnuki keeps things original yet simple. Overall just a wonderful album that's a staple for any city pop enthusiast--it's sexy, calming, and lush.
