This was my last year of 8th grade, my freshman year of high school. My hopeless romantic, naive self wrapped into 36 minutes of just pure, saccharine indie pop. And god, do I love it for that. Sure, it's a little one-note, but it's there to fulfill a purpose, and that is to make you feel like a giddy little schoolchild. Underrated is a term used far too liberally, but THIS, this is worthy of that moniker.

One thought my mind keeps circling around as I listen to this is that this album is way too god damn wholesome. My aunt who only listens to religious music and Michael Buble' could probably get into this. That doesn't keep me from partially enjoy it. Forrest's vocals shine bright. He has perfected his melodies and that alone saves it.

Musically, it sounds like Vampire Weekend-esque indie rock, but without any of the weirder qualities of that band. It's barely a step above Hellogoodbye's ... read more

The story of California band Hellogoodbye is a strange one, the group being most well known for their dreadful enormo-hit Here (In Your Arms). The resulting debut album, laughably titled 'Zombies! Aliens! Vampires! Dinosaurs!' was a real curate's egg comprising squeaky emo rock, auto-tuned novelty dross and some rather well realised summery pop.
