Goldie has obviously been weaned on a steady diet of hip-hop, rave, electro, soul, jazz and funk. But how do you explain those Pink Floyd-style passages, the occasional crunches of synthesised noise, or the progressive, stately drift of 'Timeless's' best tracks?

'Loveless' fires a silver-coated bullet into the future, daring all-comers to try and recreate its mixture of moods, feelings, emotion, styles and, yes, innovations.

"Midnight rockers, city slickers, gunmen and maniacs" are the first words you'll hear on 'Safe From Harm'. Metaphorically speaking, Massive are all these and more, and 'Blue Lines' only begs one question: how the f- will they follow this?

The ensuing 'Low' advocates the merging of man and machine, and then depicts the resulting sense of loss.
