Southern Metal

Emerging in the '90s, Southern Metal derives heavily from Sludge Metal and Stoner Metal, with elements taken from Southern Rock. Generally conserves a profound southern aesthetic, with riffs strongly inspired from Blues Rock. Pantera is recognized to be the primary influence for the genre, as seen with certain bands adopting a groovier sound. Important acts of the genre include Black Label Society, Corrosion of Conformity and Down.
