While it would have been stronger if a few of the weaker songs had been left off, When the Kite String Pops is still an excellent, diverse metal album that remains unlike much else, even years after it release.

Try not to headbang - Level expert.
Every song is pretty much flawless. Amazing metal rhythms and grooves. The singer is fucking amazing, has such a great voice that he uses to perfection, from screaming to melodic singing, just perfect. The instrumentals are flawless and go to the extreme.
Listen to this if you love metal. Listen to this if you hate metal. Allmusic is doo doo ran by bots.

Groovy guitars and very interestingly gritty vocals, got a bit "stale" at some points imo though
(Fun story, i mixed up this and butthole surfers' album i had already reviewed a couple of days prior and i was so dumbfounded when i couldn't find my review when i searched up this one instead by cover art association, i legit thought i was going insane until i realised my mistake, i may be stupid)
"I'm gonna fuck the hole in Kennedy's head" was not a string of words i ever expected to hear
Best song: Jezebel
Worst song: God Machine
I never thought that heroin deaths, murders and infanticides could have such a cool groove and such a twisted poetics
One of the best in sludge metal, feels like a concert.
The Blue, Scream of the Butterfly and The Bones of Baby Dolls are peak.
