Houdini is about as close as one gets to a representative Melvins album, and it vividly captures the band's unreconstructed power, vision, and musical strangeness.
Houdini feels both definitive and transitional.
Pretty good boner jams on this. It just got really, I mean really overbearing since most of the songs sound so much alike and get pretty bloated.
It was probably a me thing but i didn't feel that much energy coming from this (except from honey bucket), i did like the instrumentals and singer's voice a lot though!
It's a good record, the production is really intense and dry. Everything sounds VERY seperate from each other and the guitars have almost no high end, kind of like a low-ish gain fuzz. It gets stale and kind of hurts you ears after a bit though. It's really heavy sludge the whole way through though. The song structure and riffs are decent, but nothing special in my opinion. Maybe this just hasn't clicked for me but I think its a decent record, pretty unique for it's time (and still is). ... read more
início desse álbum é tão bom que compensa a última parte, que é bem abaixo comparado ao resto
Lizzy remains my favourite, although Honey Bucket was definitely an aggressive bundle of raw energy. Joan Of Arc comes really close as well. First half of the album is definitely the best. I liked the instrumentals and the vocals were alright.
