Enjoyable Icelandic alt post-rock, with a sound similar to Low Roar and Sigur Rós.

VAR's "The Never-Ending Year" was the perfect album title for 2020.

A soothing, introspective album, with moments of grandeur, seemingly created in COVID isolation.

The band hails from a small southern Icelandic fishing village, and practices along the ocean shoreline in an old fish processing plant -- and yet, their music doesn't stink!

A groovy psychedelic mixture created by Tame Impala members, with some darker MGMT influences.

While there's a few less-than-enthusiastic songs on this album, overall, it's still a fun listen.

Some heavy bass drops, mesmerizing tracks, and a futuristic interpretation of retro soundscapes.

Drop me in the Pond, frantically splash around, float away, then crawl-up the muck-soaked banks until The Weather turns.

When's the last time you heard an Israeli blackened death metal act singing unclean Hebrew? I am guessing never... take a listen.

It's just impure contaminated filth... harsh and sordid... and quite unique.

An onyx gemstone in the swamp of death metal acts.

Some incredible Berlin School ambient space music here, created for 2020!

E-Musikgruppe Lux Ohr organically creates a sound similar to 1975 Tangerine Dream with some impeccable modern digital effects. Fans of Phaedra, Rubycon, and Ricochet should find some love in this album.

Comprehensive from start-to-finish, where the tracks just melt together like s'mores. A sensual mind-bending audio experience for COVID isolation tanks.

Open your mind. Insert kosmische musik. Rinse, repeat.

An unsettling instrumental album. The stuff of nightmares. Just in time for Halloween kiddos!

Prior to the 80s, when most horror films used classical instruments for their soundtracks, Unvers Zero was dialed-into the darker side of this genre, and managed to record these unsettling tracks for "Heresie"

While listening, your anxiety and heart-rate will likely increase, as you visualize scenes from Psycho, The Shining, The Omen, and more. Some may complain that it sounds like an ... read more

Hey I just wanted to let you know that my list aggregating AOTY's favorite albums of the year 1970 is finally live, and that you are included in it!

This was a very big project that would not have been able to be completed without your ratings and I hope to continue this series with future installments!

If you would be so kind as to check the list out and even possibly give me any feedback at all it would be greatly appreciated! Thank you so much!
