Kevin Abstract - Blanket

Definitely an overhated album. I thought I was gonna not really like it at all but I've ended up listening to this just as much as American Boyfriend and Arizona Baby, and I've listened to those two album for HOURS ON END FRONT TO BACK. There's only like 2 songs that I consistently skip. I'd like to see kevin perfect this sound a little bit more but idk if he'll do a whole album around it again.

Portraits Of Tracy - Drive Home

Man this is a banger. i just randomly found this on spotify and i'm so glad i decided to give it a listen. This music scratches the same itch that the dear april sango remix scratches and i love that song. The production on this is just so beautiful and the writing is simple but effective. I was also well invested in the story that was told during the album's runtime. I do think that I did listen to album at least once before in 2023 but i just genuinely don't remember this ... read more

Geordie Greep - The New Sound

Super crazy jazzy rock listen that most times i can't even describe what i'm listening to. honestly didn't even know when was an appropriate moment to listen to this, but I really liked it. I'm not a super big fan of the guys voice on some songs it just sounds a little cartoony at times but overall a great and really original debut.

Caroline Polachek - Desire, I Want to Turn Into You
82

Going into this i thought this album would be a lot more poppy and exhilarating but it ended a being most times melancholic electric album about dreams, persistence, and a little bit of love. i ended up liking it quite a bit i just wasn't in the right mood to listen at the time so i'll probably relisten sometime in the night.

Fontaines D.C. - Romance

Trying to get through my 2024 backlog and this is one of them. I definitely understand why this was in such high regard last hear. Coming in to this not ever hearing their music, i kinda think they sound like the stroke ( maybe i'm only saying that cause they're british ). romance has a pretty goth rock sound around the alum while also keeping it pretty pop adjacent. Also the album at least on first listen seems to have a pretty dep yearning theme which i can get behind. overall ... read more

Lil Yachty - Let's Start Here.

By far one of my most listened to albums of all time and 100% my most listened to album of 2023 yachty outdid himself with this project and this was obviously the beginning of the revival of his career. ( also personally I don't think he's surpassed this album yet ) Depending on my mood there are zero skips but the weaker tracks I do end up skipping

Prince - The Black Album
90

I liked this almost as much as I liked purple rain honestly. Prince plays with the dirty funk sound so well and I enjoyed every song on here with the first 2 being major highlights for me. Don't quite understand the spooky, evil feeling prince was getting from this album that made him scrap it though . I will say that I was able to get through this album much easier than it's counterpart lovesexy still ( still haven't finished it) so that will probably be my next listen. ... read more

Prince and The Revolution - Purple Rain

I don't even know what to say. I mean this is prince; this is prince in all his essence and at his peak. Classic prince themes of love, sex, god, and family all over amazing instrumentals. I've listened to this album multiple times front to back no shuffle and haven't gotten bored very very good album.

King Krule - 6 Feet Beneath the Moon

Can definitely see why this is a must listen. Very atmospheric pretty droopy gloomy n things of that nature. listened to it a few days ago and it's been on repeat; i'm exited to listen to more of his discography :]

boylife - gelato

Honestly didn't expect to like this album as much as i did. I was aware of boylife for a while but mostly the cover art made me not want to listen but then i started listening to his upcoming unreleased lp and the website I was listening to it on went down for a bit so i was like " ok fine I'll listen to it " and i'm glad i did. This album has some very relatable lyrics and just good music; you can definitely tell this is from the BH side of music. Either way this was a ... read more

rating off of a fresh listen and it’s pretty good I love an album with a even semblance of a story and this has it! Clear Tyler the creator inspirations but yk he says that on the album . Very much wolf era but also not kinda like an over exaggerated version of it or more it’s just more goblin/bastard idk. Anyway pretty solid album

Roy Blair - Cat Heaven
80

VERY VERY VERY 2016 sounding think Boy With Jeans and American Boyfriend. But I like those albums so I liked this album. It's a super like suburban kid who doesn't feel like he fits in where he lives kinda vibe which isn't surprising since he's friends with Kevin Abstract. Anyway good album.

Perry Maysun - In Yesterday's Light
75

I remember when perry was first coming out and holy moly now he has like 4 albums! Anyway This is a pretty solid album if you want a description of his sound I would say kind of a mix between mac miller and earl sweatshirt. Anyway exited to listened to the rest of his discography! favorite song - Cigarettes My Room

Leon Bridges - Leon

A very beautiful and soulful listen with topics of love, appreciation, and nostalgia. Some tracks toward the middle can sound a little samey but overall a very good project

Kidz At Play - Boyhood
68

A strong start with the opening track, but unfortunately, it’s followed by a couple of songs filled with annoyingly layered vocals and odd instrumentals ("Cure for Overwhelmness" and "I Love You"). If I were to play devil's advocate, I’d say that I listened to those tracks on poor-quality headphones, and when I switched to my high-quality ones, "Cure for Overwhelmness" did sound a bit better. However, "I Love You" suffers so much from ... read more

Jeff Buckley - Sketches for My Sweetheart The Drunk

An extremely strong start with the first 3 tracks led by several more amazing songs on disc 1. disc 2 is wayy to overhated and this is coming from someone who thought that disc 2 was subpar on my first listen but when i sat down and listened with an open minded intent I saw that disc 2 was just as strong as disc 1 just with a different vibe .

Literally not a single song i didn't melt listening to

Tyler, The Creator - Music Inspired by Illumination & Dr. Seuss' The Grinch

I mean... I like listening to it during christmas, sometimes during the fall. I don't know why people take this album so seriously it's a six track family friendly christmas tape and it's pretty good.

Ryan Beatty - Calico

Came for the cover art stayed for a beautiful album about men loving men and love in general

Magdalena Bay - Imaginal Disk

I've never listened to this duo but I can tell you right now this is their best album. This is project is an amazing (mainly) synth and neo psych project and holy moly it's amazing. Every song is amazing despite the album kinda losing me in the middle making finishing this album take longer than it should but the second half? OH MY GOODNESS! It's spectacular. I'm a sucker for good guitars and man do those guitars sing. Starting at Tunnel Vision this album goes from " ... read more
