I wish they put as much time into every track as they clearly did the first 3 in the EP. There's still good stuff in here otherwise. But it's just the thing where, while there is cool stuff here, most songs are overshadowed by other parts being underdeveloped. Like in day 2, the first solo sounds like a first take... the rest of the song is great though. Short and sweet, daunting and droning. The guitar on Woe Unto Us sounds like an earlier version of Trespassers W, but the ambience is completely different. The Cure's defining gothic album... no goth pop like they're usually known for. This album is dreary and dark, dragging you into its ghoulish world. While shorter than what they'd later be known for, this stands tall as one of their most solid albums, oozing with everything which makes The Cure great.
Absolutely amazing tracklist, and I'm not even into synthpop in the slightest. But this album is so fun and unique, obviously super creative, and so filled with bangers that I think many are generally overlooked. This is one of those albums that transcends genre, and is just generally amazing... thank u magalena bay....
