Blast - Hope / Damned Flame
78

A Belgian group creating Hardcore Punk and Speed Metal then just disbanding? Fascinating piece of Proto Punk and Proto Speed metal.

Wicked Lady - The Axeman Cometh
82

Amazing fuzzy Heavy Psych with of Proto Doom Metal leanings! I do find the drumming and vocals lacking but the guitarist absolutely makes up for that with the excellent riffing and soloing throughout.

Hiemal - Departure
89

Another one of many excellent releases from this master of Dark Ambience / Drone. And the most "popular" one it seems like as well which I'd say this is a great introduction to his music. The tracks aren't too overly long and has enough variety to suffice for its almost hour and a half runtime.

Rippikoulu - Musta seremonia
96

A crushing piece of Death Doom Metal. This release has one of the heaviest guitar tones you'll hear whether they're playing full-on Death Metal, mid-pace death doom, or even slow sections that almost sound like Funeral Doom. And has pretty good production for a demo.

Legend - Fröm the Fjörds
98

An unfortunately forgotten gem of early NWOBHM. For 1979 standards there really wasn't much else like this at the time. The use of lyrical fantasy his really helped shape the Epic Heavy Metal sound, as the only band really doing that style at the time was Rainbow. An amazing feat of early Heavy Metal that is a must hear!

Running Wild - Death or Glory
100

My gosh this album is incredible. The musicianship is excellent across the tracks, chucked full of catchy and galloping riffs. And use of pirates as a theme goes beyond "pirates are cool." It feels like a triumph and celebration of it.

In my opinion the best Power Metal album and one of the best Metal albums in general!

Archean Nights - Interstellar Storms
98

I wish these two did more splits or collabs because their material on them is always amazing. Soaring Over Jovian Chaos is my favorite Hiemal track of all time with the harmonious hum of the layered synths. But the Archean Nights side is incredible as well, making you feel as if you're actively being pulled into Jupiters orbit. Otherworldly Ambient here!

Hiemal - The Wanderer
95

A short track by Hiemal standards but it's one of my favorite tracks from him. The soundscapes sound like being in a forest in a cold Autumn evening. I always love when Hiemal uses Nature Sounds in his tracks.

Hiemal - Dyatlov's Creek
97

Hiemals darkest release and his last release with this more dark and brooding sound. And this track inspired by the Dyatlov Pass incident so it makes this track feel more ominous knowing the theme behind this.

Hiemal - Hymns & Lores of Primaeval Epochs
96

Amazing split between these two masters of Drone Dark Ambient!

Hiemal with the fantastical soundscapes and Archean Nights coming with the space soundscapes that makes me feel like I'm flying through a black hole.

Hiemal - Celestial Odyssey
100

An hour of continuous space-themed Drone that reminds me a lot of Archean Nights.

One of my favorite Dark Ambient projects I've heard thus far!

Hiemal - Hyperborean Rituals
86

A dark and brooding sounding album for Hiemal standards and I love it!

Nero's Day At Disneyland - From Rotting Fantasylands
85

I remember hearing about this project a few years ago but I unfortunately forgot to check it out which was definitely a mistake.

This was one of the more eclectic and impressionable albums I've listened to in a bit. Glitchy, chaotic.. Use of Circus March? But it somehow works very well to create this schizophrenic horror-fueled carnival soundscape.

Thank you @LordStevedog for the recommendation!

Hiemal - Septentrional Tales
93

Hiemals most varied release with the use of Nature Sounds, pianos, different synth textures, and a strong melancholic undertone to create a cold and desolate world.

Sickboyrari - Crack Cloud$ Over Arts Kitchen
74

There's some tracks like Daydream, Hydrocodone, and Ice Cream Stoned Strippahs that are otherworldly. But then there's tracks like Drip, Dankopaint, and Paint on Me Freestyle that are forgettable. Incredible highs but some inconsistencies within the tracklist that prevent it from being any higher for me.

82

This just beats your head in over and over again for its runtime and it's nothing short of awesome!

Tray Savage - Brain Dead
90

Possibly the most overlooked Drill tape. This is just a pure rager from beginning to end.

R.I.P. Tray Savage

Blood Money - Choppa Talk 1on1
88

The first half is great but when it gets to the second half it REALLY picks up.

SD - Life Of A Savage 3
92

One of the best Drill tapes from this era.

Pig The Gemini - Lover Girl
78

Nice blend of Pop Rap and Plugg that is pleasant to listen to.
