I went into this thinking “wow I love the smiths I can’t believe they were around in the 80s” (the 80s being my personal least favorite decade for music) and and left it thinking “oh yeah they were around in the 80s”
I was thinking “wow everyone seems to have mixed opinions but it’s probably gonna be good” nah not rlly it does have some good songs but 6/11 of them are like mid kinda but the 5 good ones save it
Best songs: Alewife, Bags, Sofia, White Flag, Feel Something
Worst song: ummm I don’t fucking know one of them on the first half
When I listened to this single the beginning was fine and then the “vocals” came in, fuck this

I don’t like the whole like vibe of the album because I’m probably wrong but it felt like a hybrid of rock and disco and Ziggy stardust wasn’t like that but the title track is obviously the best one like not even close, other stand outs are Joe the lion, blackout, v-2 Schneider, and sense of doubt. Somehow this is one of their best albums when it’s completely different from all the rest of their stuff
The first song is the best one, the worst song is the Jamaican jerk off song. Everything else is ranges from mid to great. Other highlights are the title track and the ballad of Danny Bailey
On the song savior machine he said “president Joe once had a dream” this album came out 11/4/1970, 50 years and one day before Joe Biden won the 2020 presidential election
Disc one of this album is whatever I don’t really like the songs from it originally except the first one but the best one from that side was saucerful of secrets which surprised me. Disc two could’ve been worse, I thought it would be the worst Pink Floyd related thing ever but no. The first 4 songs made by Rick are terrible, how did that guy also write Echoes and The Great Gig in the Sky.
