Joey Valence & Brae - HYPERYOUTH
86

I listened to this album on a whim, and frankly it is 44 minutes of pure fun. To start, the beats are consistently fire. On all of the high energy songs, those beats have me MOVING, and they're just as good on the slow tracks. The more mellow moments are some of my favorites on the album, but the hype moments are also really good most of the time. The flows are good a lot of the time, but there are some weak points. The lyricism is also shockingly good at some points, with the more ... read more

Fontaines D.C. - Skinty Fia

Not a whole lot to say about this album, to be honest. After listening to Romance at the start of last year, it didn't really click with me until October. So, I felt it was long overdue that I give this a shot. And it would seem that this is going the same route as Romance, because on first listen, I think it's pretty decent and nothing more. The vibe is definitely a lot different than Romance, with Grian Chatten singing in a much lower register in this album, which I'm not as ... read more

Ninajirachi - I Love My Computer

Wow, I'm behind on reviews. I listened to this album a couple weeks ago, and it's probably the most inconsistent album I've ever listened to. It suffers from the issue that a lot of EDM suffers from, where either the beats are incredible, or they're god awful. Not saying Ninajirachi herself did a bad job producing this, because it's produced very well, but for me, it's very easy to mess up EDM, and a couple of the songs here do that. However, this album has some ... read more

chloe moriondo - oyster
52

mehhhh it's so aggressively average. That's the best way to describe this album. The first half has some promise, with songs like abyss & oyster being fun and catchy, but it loses me by the 2nd half. The songs have no progression, while also being a bit too basic-sounding. This album really just bored me, however there's a lot of potential here. Chloe Moriondo has made great things, and some of the things that made Blood Bunny so good are still present here (namely lyrics ... read more

NewDad - MADRA

This album really surprised me, honestly. The song that inspired me to listen to it was Where I Go, and I expected the album as a whole to be good but nothing particularly impressive or memorable. Boy, was I wrong. MADRA doesn't necessarily do anything life-changing, but it's just a really fun yet emotional listen. Every song here sounds either very pleasant or very fun, or maybe even a mix of both. I get a solid amount of enjoyment out of this entire tracklist, with only a couple ... read more

Radiohead - OK Computer

In my 2nd year of reviewing music, I feel that it's about time to listen to this album. It almost feels like an initiation to listen to this album, given how universally acclaimed it is. It's no To Pimp A Butterfly, which I will get around to... eventually, however it's pretty damn close in terms of critical acclaim. That being said, I don't quite love this album as much as everyone else seems to, but it has crazy room to grow on me. This doesn't feel like an album ... read more

Good Kid - Can We Hang Out Sometime?
61

it's alright. I like Good Kid, i think they usually make some pretty high-quality stuff. However, they don't really do enough to particularly intrigue me. The music sounds good, but it doesn't do a good job at holding my attention, even through the very short runtime, given how all of the songs sound the same. They're going in the right direction with some more chill songs such as Tea Leaves, however this album is still just kinda boring as a whole.
P.S. never do anything ... read more

Tyler, The Creator - Goblin

Oh... my god. I genuinely did not think I was capable of having this much hatred for a singular album. Especially one by an artist who I really enjoy many projects from. But this album is a new level of absolutely abominable that I cannot put it into words. I was a little bit under the weather when I listened to this album the day before writing this review, however listening to this album made me feel physically worse listening to it. I didn't think I could ever say that about a piece of ... read more

The Crane Wives - Foxlore

I wish I cared about this album more. I had heard Curses about a month ago, and I thought it was fantastic, so when I saw that The Crane Wives were doing a show nearby where I live (and it is VERY rare for artists I care about to play here) I wanted to listen to this album to see if I was interested in going. I am generally not big on folk rock, but my experiences with the genre are very limited, so I thought I'd give this a shot. And unfortunately, it was a bit of a disappointing listen. ... read more

Jeff Buckley - Grace

I listened to this a week before posting this review, I just forgot to actually post the review.

I don't have many thoughts on this album, if I'm being honest. Amazing vocals, good instrumentals, great songwriting, only complaint I have is that some songs can be a bit too slow and minimal given their length. I know that's kinda the point, and I might just have a bad attention span or something, but the start-and-stop style of some songs just didn't work for me. Aside from ... read more

Set It Off - Set It Off

Man, I really wish this turned out better than I expected. I had listened to two Set It Off albums before this, Duality and Elsewhere. Both of them were mid. When this album dropped, I thought they had finally escaped mediocre hell. But listening to this album, it was just the same as the other two albums. Boring, repetitive, formulaic. The new, heavier sound is nice, and that's what made me think they would finallty use the potential I know they have to make something truly great, but ... read more

Hayley Williams - Ego Death At A Bachelorette Party
51

I wanted to like this album, because it does everything right. The vocals, writing, production, it's all done very well. However, It is very hard, if not impossible to keep a 20 track album engaging all the way through, and Hayley unfortunately falls flat on that aspect, leaving all of the best tracks for the end. I've got no clue why Good Ol' Days and Showbiz aren't included here on the AOTY tracklist, but those two tracks, alongside Parachute, absolutely carry this ... read more

John Michel - Egotrip

Wow. Fucking wow. Simply amazing album. This is my 65th album i've listened to in full, and it is only the 3rd that I would give a 10/10. Words cannot describe how much this blew me away.

Going into 2025, i thought I hated rap music. But then, I actually decided to look a bit more into it, and I realized how horribly incorrect and uneducated I was. I've explored it further so far this year, and if I was proved wrong last year, listening to this album made me realize that i ... read more

Em Beihold - Tales of a Failed Shapeshifter
73

I jumped on the unfortunately small Em Beihold train in early 2025, and over the course of that year, I started to realize a big flaw in Em Beihold's music. She is a great vocalist, her songs are produced well, the lyrics are always decent enough, however she can't seem to really take the jump to do something a bit more daring, and push her limits to create something truly great. She's always had potential, but she hasn't been able to use that potential.
Take her album/EP, ... read more

I haven't listened to the original, unreleased version, but god I hope it's so much better than this, or else I am so disappointed in y'all for calling this TOP's BEST song

Sigrid - There's Always More That I Could Say
53

I listened to this album a few days ago, but I forgot to write a review. That's a pretty good way to sum up how I feel about this album.

The song that got me to listen to this album was Jellyfish, and while that alongside the opener, I'll Always Be Your Girl, set my expectations high, this album proceeded to do absolutely nothing interesting for the next 6 tracks.
But I'm getting ahead of myself; let's start with the positives. The production is immaculate. Even with how ... read more

Geese - Getting Killed
89

I'm a bit late to the Geese party, and boy do I regret it.

The first song I heard from this album was Au Pays du Cocaine, and it definitely intrigued me. This sounded like basically nothing I had heard before, so I decided to give the full album a shot. I expected to like it, however I was also a bit worried that the strangeness of the whole album would turn me away. However, I was pleasantly surprised to find that this would be among my favorite albums of all time.

The Weeknd - Dawn FM

Last year, I listened to After Hours, and frankly, it wasn't for me. I didn't love it. However, listening to Dawn FM, this is much more my speed. There were some tinges of synthpop on After Hours, but it leaned more heavily into the rap and R&B aspects of it, and it all culminated into something I wasn't personally a fan of. But Dawn FM, on the other hands, leans much heavier into the synthpop aspects of it, and it sounds incredible. The production on this album is great, or ... read more

Cavetown - Running With Scissors
85

I've been very hyped for this album ever since its announcement. I've been waiting for Cavetown to make a heavier album ever since I discovered him in 2024. This isn't exactly what I wanted, but it's damn close to it. And, I have to say, this is very close to what I was hoping for. This is an incredible development of Cavetown's sound. The vocals are easily his best to date, as he projects his vocals more, which he did on tracks that came shortly before this album, like ... read more

McKinley Dixon - Magic, Alive!

2026 ALBUM REVIEW #1

Kicking off the year with my first non-Tyler hip-hop album I've listened to, and it's a damn good one. I'm a bit late to the hype here (as I am with every other album i'm listening to that came out in 2025) but this is fantastic. The concept and narrative here is really unique and interesting, even if it is a bit hard to follow. The energy on a lot of these tracks make them really fun listens, and the more chill tracks are good as well. Dixon's ... read more
