Lamp - 一夜のペーソス [Dusk to Dawn]
60

With this review, I can finally say that I've finished listening to Lamp's discography!

Admittedly going into this I wasn't very excited nor was I expecting a lot as their work prior to this in 2018, Her Watch, was a massive disappointment for me. That being said however I was pleasantly surprised with this piece of work.

I will say upfront that Someya's production carried this album HARD, it feels like from over their 20 years in making music he is the main character ... read more

sombr - I Barely Know Her
49

This got recommended to me by a good friend of mine, while im sure he meant it I'm sad to say that I'll disappoint his expectations.

I didn't really know what to expect coming into this album as I've never even heard of this artist let alone the most popular song on this album, I was passing the first 3 tracks sort of waiting for something amazing to hit on "back to friends" but honestly was just let down. From there I was hoping at the end of every song that, ... read more

Matt Maltese - Driving Just To Drive
69

The only other album I've heard from Maltese before this one was Hers, which I liked a lot, so coming into and finishing this album I ended up with the feeling of just wanting a little more of that Matt Maltese feeling.

Overall this album was very alright, played very safely.

Favourite: But leaving is
Least: Florence

my bloody valentine - loveless
100

This was entrancing from start to finish, easily one of the best shoegaze albums I've ever heard.

I don't know how I can put all these feelings that come from this album into words, all I can say is that I'm glad to be alive in a time where I can listen to music like this.

Edit:
A small thing I would like to say after coming back to this masterpiece multiple times, is that I made an egregious mistake. This isn't one of the best shoegaze albums I've ever heard, ... read more

N.W.A. - Straight Outta Compton
69

It picked itself up towards the end making that honestly painful middle section of the tracklist worth the wait.

I honestly thought I'd enjoy this album a lot more since I've already heard the popular tracks being the first 3, but then from If it ain't ruff I wasn't really feeling it until I ain't tha 1.

Fav: Dopeman/Straight Outta Compton
Least: If it ain't ruff

I won't even try to pretend that I enjoyed this, after attempting a few listens I believe this just isn't for me.

EDIT:
For some reason I came back for another attempt at this album and found it not as horrible as I remember, contrasting my initial thoughts I actually really enjoyed the earlier tracks all the way until Hustle Bones, which where after that I couldn't really take in the music well anymore.

Perhaps I'll need a few more tries to get into it, there's still ... read more

J Dilla - Donuts
74

Admittedly I wasn't really digging the first few tracks, but it picked itself up towards the middle. It's my first time listening to a hip-hop album that's completely instrumental so I think it'll have to grow on me, pretty decent first listen!

Fav: Geek Down/ Don't Cry
Least: The Factory

Clipse - Hell Hath No Fury
70

While I prefer LGSEO, I still really enjoyed listening to Hell hath no fury. Considering it's 19 years apart from LGSEO I'd say it's holding itself up quite well!

The intro has been stuck in my head for the past few days I ain't gonna lie, it's just so MMM

Fav: We got it for cheap
Least: Trill/HNW

SHIZUKU - 2nd Demo
39

Didn't feel much of anything for this short piece of work, there wasn't anything that really moved me in any way whatsoever.

ゆよゆっぺ [Yuyoyuppe] - SICK -やんでるEP-
100

I found this 2 years (well 3 considering its the start of 2026) ago and it still hits hard to this day, perfect blend of metal and vocaloid in this short but powerful EP.

It was in the evening I believe I found this, scrolling through youtube and being drawn by the album art. I didn't know what to expect since I wasn't really big into music back then but I was completely blown away after the first track.

The starting is very misleading, I was preparing myself for a slow paced beat ... read more

kurayamisaka - kimi wo omotte iru

This LP found me at the perfect time.

Was in love throughout the whole album, loved the noisy and messy instrumentals, every second of them.

Out of the 6 tracks I'd say the only weak one is the hidden track 'さあ冒険だ', while everything else was an entrancing, psychedelic shoegaze experience.

Would recommend to anyone who loves J-Rock or Shoegaze to give this LP a shot.

Favourite: seasons/cinema paradiso
Least: さあ冒険だ (idk why it's not listed, probably a ... read more

Lamp - Blue

Very strange song from Lamp imo, the production sounds very unfamiliar and it's almost like Sakakibara-san and Nagai-san lost their charisma singing on on track.

I really didn't know how to feel rating it, at first it felt like a solid 7 then went to like a 5 for me. I'll definitely need to come back again some time in the future.

Lamp - 旅人 / 夢の国 [Traveler / Place in My Dream]
71

Listened to this right after Her Watch, and it's quite refreshing to still feel the magic on these 2 tracks.

Admittedly I was very confused as to why Lamp has 2 songs with the exact same name, but sounding very different compared against each other.

Really nice short listen! I think Tabibito is much stronger than Place in My Dream (2?), gives me hope for the next album from them.

Symphony might be their best opening track yet.

I finally got to this album in my chronological Lamp listening journey, and upon the first listen this might be the best one yet. I don't wanna be too sure about my rating for now, music tends to grow on me, especially with Lamp for some reason.

It's really nice to hear Someya-san singing, his voice, just like Nagai-san's, is very gentle and soothing. I don't think there is a better 5 track run on any other LP/EP from Lamp ... read more

Laufey - A Matter of Time
24

This album was genuinely so disappointing coming from Laufey.

I don't fathom how the same person who make Everything I know about love could create something so bland. I still come back to EIKAL occasionally since I've been a fan when that album came out.

Clockwork was a great opener for me, and the best track run was from Carousel to Too little, too late. Then everything else is either unmemorable or, in very simple terms, tiktok(y) music. I especially did not enjoy Tough luck, ... read more

ツユ [TUYU] - やっぱり雨は降るんだね [It's Raining After All]

Another album I hold very close to my heart is Tuyu's debut album. I found this around the same time I found Takayan, and not to sound corny or cringe or anything of the sort, but I genuinely believe that without these songs I wouldn't be alive or who I am today.

I recently revisited Tuyu's discography again. I remember I had to stop listening to them for a period of time after the Pusu incident (please, if you don't understand, don't go into it; just enjoy their ... read more

Caparezza - Orbit Orbit

Getting this out of the way before the 'review', I am not Italian and I do not understand a single thing he is saying. I've come to this album from the recommendation of my best friend. Clarification out, now to the review.

I really enjoyed this album, it's a first for me hearing this mix of rap and synthpop, and I really fw it. Even though I couldn't enjoy the lyrics (which I'm sure is amazing for those who could understand) I really enjoyed the production of ... read more

Ado - ウタの歌 ONE PIECE FILM RED [Uta's Songs One Piece Film Red]

Another review on an Ado album, my best friend who is a huge fan really wanted me to try it, so I'm doing it for him! Even though I've been disappointed in her original albums (Kyougen 3/10, Zanmu 6/10), I still went into this soundtrack somewhat excited (because I just passed up my assignment prior to this! :D)

I will clarify, I am not a One Piece fan and I have never watched the movie, let alone any sort of content that speaks of the series. This soundtrack is also going to be my ... read more

Eve - Under Blue
55

I was introduced to Eve by a good friend of mine, and he recommended me to start with this album. And to really summarize my listening experience of this album, it's just alright.

Many of the songs on this album feel pretty recycled and repetitive, with only a few tracks standing out as unique, and even then the unique tracks—while memorable—are not crazy good. The first 4 songs are super weak imo; I can't remember them as soon as the next track plays. That being said, ... read more

Tyler, The Creator - CHROMAKOPIA +
76

I'm only gonna assume we all know (and are slightly disappointed) that the only new track here is Mother, and I will only rate it as such.

As someone who has heard the early version of Chromakopia, Mother was already a track on that album, for context, the early version is the one with Playboy Carti on Thought I was dead.

I did enjoy mother a lot! Solid track and it makes the whole album listen through that slight bit stronger.

Also, this new cover art is fucking fire btw it is ... read more

"Can't say I really agree with this, sounds foreign to me that you're critisizing the production on this soundtrack and comparing it to Kyougen's production? I'm on the similar frame that the production on this soundtrack isn't the best either, I didn't like it on New genesis, Fleeting lullaby, and I'm invincible. But the rest other than Tot Musica was great honestly, I don't see how the production on those tracks suck."
