I am pleased with this. I went into this knowing it could have been a landfill, a gem, or a forgettable experience after what was her last album but thankfully, I find it closer to a gem. Thank you Mori for an actual decent to good release.
I like to think of that one meme of "It ain't much but it's honest work" even if that saying doesn't directly translate to this. There isn't much to the song but it makes up for it for simply being fun. And that is the least I ... read more
I expected worse I'm not gonna lie so this probably higher than it should be but I had some sort fun with it at least
These are really good versions of these songs. Like I find them near perfect different versions that are on par with the originals. So much so that I find this version of Cut My Lip way better than the original which by now has grown to be in my bottom 3 tracks in the entirety of Trench's runtime. I also like the extended lyrics on top of the The Hype and the vibe of it. Level of Concern sounds amazing as well, way better than the original with the horns in the back. The only thing that ... read more
Yeah, I fuck with it. That's really it. Came out during the pandemic and it shows. It's fun even if the hook doesn't immediately pop out. I like the overall vintage sound but I think it would have neat had they fully leaned into an 80s sound or something. The lyrics are less than ideal but it's wholesome.
They were let in a kitchen so soon and despite the short time after Clancy, they cooked HARD
I'm really glad they improved so much after all this time. Breach is filled with many hits and is still a good follow-up to both Trench and Clancy and good closer to their decade long story. What a journey. The start of it was extremely messy, Blurryface was one of the biggest fumbles in this band's discography and start of their Dema storyline. I tried going back to it recently and it was ... read more
I didn't know who this was nor did I know what was I about to hear but DAMN, I WANT MORE!!
I love most of the production here. Once I heard horns and saxophones go wild, my ankles buckled like they usually do. Every song has good energy and RAYE is a really good singer. The grandness of the album somehow didn't feel it like it overstayed it's welcome for me which I found surprising because I absolutely thought it would because this album is as long as a movie but it didn't. ... read more
Up to this point, I haven't listened to a single Imagine Dragons LP to it's fullest besides one (that being Origins). So I thought what better way to start this 'wonderful' journey than to go back to the first album that really kickstarted this band to fame for better or for worse. I wasn't expecting much as my expectations are usually near the ground when I don't know what I'm getting myself into. That being said, this record actually isn't that bad. ... read more
Yeah no. This ain't it for me chief. I'm quite disappointed.
Granted, I went in open-minded but still with a few expectations such as improvements and whatnot. And that is the case here but wow, I'm really saddened as well because I enjoyed PHANTOMIME for the most part. With the few songs that I listened in between PHANTOMIME and this LP, I guess I should have seen it coming though because I didn't exactly enjoy those songs and I went in this totally fresh, I did not listen ... read more
Fire, absolute cinema even.
While I don't think this album is nearly as good as Trench, I found it still be to be an overall incredible listen and a worthy proper follow-up to it. (I might redo my Trench review as I feel different about some of the songs in that album). It's strongest aspects are carried from Trench over with strong production and lyrics. It's fun and gut-wrenching when it needs to be. Clancy managed to get up the score for the amount of albums I enjoy from ... read more
This is certainly the album of all time
I never heard of Sleep Token until recently thanks to a discord server I'm in so I figured I might give them a shot in my free time. I wasn't quite sure what they were until I did some research myself and found out they had metal influences. Which wasn't outright the greatest sign for me as I'm not a big fan of metal in general but I still went in cautiously optimistic. Now that I sat down and listened to it, I cant say I enjoyed this ... read more
In preparation for TOP's newest album, 'Breach', I decided to finish what I started months ago and that is to go through their discography. I wasn't expecting much from this album much like any other album and project I listen to regardless on who it is from so the thoughts of this following the godsend that was Trench was long gone out of my mind. After going through it, I can only really describe this album in three words:
Unremarkable and unmemorable
I wouldn't ... read more
I mean its alright. Not a big fan of the production but it's not too bad. Vocal delivery doesn't do much to me either. The song really just exists to me and when it comes Mori's overall music standards, that's good enough for me. Would I listen to it again? No but I can live with it.
It's fine, not for me. The production heavily carries and it is essentially a persona song (thanks to Shoji Meguro being the producer). Lotus Juice does well enough as always. What misses for me is Mori herself. She sounds decent over the verses but I heavily despise her vocal performance on the hook. It comes off as annoying to me and ruins the entire thing for me.
I can't believe I forgot to write a review for this when I gave my rating. Better late than never I guess.
So yeah, it sucks which is surprising to see considering Hoyo standards of music and the OST for ZZZ so this track is made even worse in comparison. But even without that, it has little redeeming qualities by itself.
My biggest problem is the percussion. Everything about it sucks so much. That kick 'drum' is the worst kick I have ever heard and no that is not a hyperbole. ... read more
I had hope for this one. I really did. I like the first half of the song but once the second half comes around, it loses me entirely. I dislike the vocal performances all around and the production saves the track me... in the first half that is. Had I liked the second half as the same as the first, I probably would have given it a 60 as there is enjoyment I can find in it but unfortunately that is not the case.
Depression in the form of an album. Simple but effective. Beautiful. The lyrics are overall amazing and the bluntness helps it in the context of the album. It feels personal, it's like you're getting a clear look on what's going inside of Elverum during his grief. It easily resonates to me who lost someone in the past year. It made me reflect on my own life and others that I hold close. Melodies are all nice too, giving each track a comforting yet still somber atmosphere. While ... read more
Still garbage but more original. That being said, really boring and bad. Lyrics are really horrible too. I don't have much to say because this might be the most boring project I have ever heard.
Favorite Track(s): Worth it
Least Favorite Track(s): Pastry
This album cured my addiction of breathing air. Thanks!!
Okay jokes aside, this album is absolute garbage from start to finish. It's just a blatant ripoff of AJR and not in a good way in the slightest. If you take every flaw about AJR and make it worse, this is what you get. An album that has little to no redeemable traits. The overuse of spokestep is so bad and some of the worst I have ever heard. The vocal effects are overused as well and sound awful, there is rarely any moments where ... read more
it really just exists.... It barely escapes the realm generic j-pop but that being said, I really get nothing out of this album. It has some good highs but the lows are something to avoid. Nearly every single track sounds different at least but the production and mixing is all over the place. Most of these tracks range from "meh" to truly actually bad. It's not soulless either and some songs are a little fun. I don't overall hate it but it's not something I would come ... read more
Has For Riddles, for Wonders in it. (Shoutout to Ethereal Mildness as well)
