This album is such a natural progression for MGMT, it takes cues from a lot of their past psych pop records, yet here it's presented in a generally more forward thinking manner and punchier overall, with even less electronic edges to it in favour of a more instrumental approach
Part of me wishes they didn't release half the songs as singles before the album even came out lol, but it is what it is, at least they work even better within the context of the album
this is kinda what I was looking for in a latin Kali album, it's a really vibrant and fun listen
I said it before but Te Mata might just be her best song and performance
edit: the biggest critique I have of this album is that you start getting tired of how sugary it is at times, especially on the more subdued tracks, but overall still a solid release
*rating is only for the Scary Hours 3 tracks
This is literally just Drake milking the same formula for a few tracks, good beats, decent bars, same delivery and flows, weird metaphors and similies every few bars... overall decent but nothing crazy
Honestly, I'm a bit impressed. This album takes way more risks than I thought it would. And I say this as someone who thinks Rodeo is one of the best albums of the 2010s. I just didn't think he had it in him for another dark psychedelic experience like this. The one thing I will say tho is that there's a few songs on here that don't fit the aesthetic and theme as well as they should (*AHEM* K-Pop *AHEM*), therefore it's nowhere near as cohesive as it could be and ends up being a bit bloated. ... read more

I'm a hip-hop enthusiast that also enjoys pretty much any other genre, I mostly rate the stuff that made me stop in my tracks (and maybe shaped my music taste in some way) that's why most of my ratings are so high lol
