I will never get mad at an artist for trying something different with their craft, even if it doesn’t quite stick the landing for many. This isn’t Currents, I doubt we’ll ever get Currents again, and that’s completely okay.
That being said, this does feel like Kevin’s least cohesive work to date. It feels like he decided to make a techno-house album and then pivoted halfway though, without deleting anything. I still really like that sound of a lot of stuff here, ... read more
We are so back.
Really fun album about identity and growing up, two topics that are kinda hitting home right now. Josh is really in his bag with the songwriting here, lots of really catchy choruses. The performances are swell, a nice progression of their sound while still feeling like them.
Only complaints are that a couple songs sound a little overcooked. It’s also really short, feels like ideas don’t get much room to breathe.
All in all really happy with this. Proud of the ... read more
Messiest album rollout I’ve ever seen, and some of that disfunction creeps into the music as well unfortunately. The quality to quantity ratio isn’t there like it is for the debut. Sonically it doesn’t do much for me either, and the story’s a little one dimensional.
That being said, I still really like a lot of the songs on here. It was an experiment that didn’t pay off in a lot of ways, but mad respect for trying something new. I look back on it fonder now that ... read more
Not the album I was expecting, but an enjoyable listen nonetheless. Much softer and more tender than the singles had me believe, but that wasn't a bad thing. I think coin have enough high energy projects that this one feels earned. Get the feeling this going to only grow on me with time.
Man I really wish he actually retired with this one. Not because I hate what he's done since, but because this is a really cool mic drop album to end a career on, which gets ruined a bit when he starts dropping the next year. Even a couple year break would have made this so much better.
That being said this is easily my favorite Logic record. Everything from the cover and presentation to the songs and messaging, it feels like he really has some stuff to say here and he says it well. Very ... read more
It expresses this feeling of open fields, freedom, and wonder so perfectly, from the title and cover to every song on the list. My life is better having heard this album and welcoming it into my brain
The musical embodiment of teenage and young adult angst, with something to offer everyone.
So many difficult emotions are addressed on here and to me they’re all done so well. It’s an album that even 20 years later has people going to it for comfort and reconciliation with these feelings. I find it to be sensational and one of a kind. If you replace any member of the band, and part of the machine, then it’s not as good. It’s a perfect storm of everyone being in the ... read more
In my opinion, this thing is a mess
Complete tonal whiplash throughout. Absolutely no theme sonically that connects really any of these tracks together. Overcompensate was such a cool way to open and usher in the new era, but 2 songs later and we’re so far from anything that song did.
A lot of the messages and themes are some of the same stuff Tyler’s been singing about for like 15 years at this point. I also didn’t feel like it was very connected to the work Trench did ... read more
Sometimes a piece of art comes a long that just needs to be experienced. There is nothing to say about this album that it doesn't say itself. There are a few albums that over the years have really shaped and re ignited my love of music, and this is absolutely one of those. I will forever be thankful that this exists.
This is my favorite album of all time. It found me at a point when I needed it most. I will forever be thankful for all it has given me.
Technically speaking, tons of super catchy and meaningful songs on here, speaking on a wide range of real topics. No two songs sound the same, but they all fit perfectly together. I have no other words, I am defeated.
