Mac Miller - Balloonerism
89

It’s very surreal hearing Mac’s voice again. It’s a journey through an abstract dream of Mac. The Mac miller estate did a great job giving his posthumous releases effort and care to preserve his memory. I’m going to revisit this multiple times but it really is great. The production is so good. Like circles it’s weird hearing mac talk about drugs and his death. The second half is just incredible. I really like the themes and introspection on this. Really like the guitars and vocals but was looking forward to a little harder sound that was found in my mind is a mountain. It’s still as emotional and individualistic as some of their previous works. Still enjoyed this a good amount, favorite tracks were the opener and closer

A real vibe throughout with peak 80s sound. It’s emotional, entrancing, and just a very enjoyable listen. Really paved the way for violator

The confluence of genres really works here. Some of these riffs go stupid hard. Look out for me is a big standout track for me. There are a couple parts that feel out of place and awkward but for the most part this is a solid album that I had a good time with

Film is incredible. This project gets wildly experimental with some very questionable tracks in the second half but it’s enjoyable overall. Would be a higher score if the vibe of the first half was stuck with

Gira sounds like some sort of ancient god smiting down scriptures from above. It’s grand, dark, twisted, and a provoking journey. My favorite track is the opener, the healers. It’s very palatable for those just being exposed to swans. The ideas, vocals, and instrumentation are there. I think I slightly prefer other swans projects to this but it’s not bad by any means
