sure it’s fast but it also has no weight or substance to it, so theres no reason to listen to this again
another revival screamo / metalcore project but this time it's Korean. slightly better than its western counterparts due to having one cool riff i guess. im still not a big fan
okay-ish math rock album. some cool moments but i will probably never listen to it again
i've no idea what constitutes a good ambient record, and i am here on what basically was a dare. with vibe records like this i guess the only factor for reviewing is what emotions it evoked inside of you. and at first listening to this made me feel like i was levitating in space. which i guess shows my lack of Ambient experience as it has an actual subgenre named Space Ambient. but around the halfway point it just kind of stopped making me feel anything. and i was just sitting there ... read more
this album is the fast food of death metal. i listened to it, kinda enjoyed but deep down i knew it wasnt very good and i should try to avoid it
i wish Travis Ryan would stop the raspy melodic singing. i don't like it.
that aside Death Atlas is Cattle Decap's first (?) non-grind album. so with them moving more into straight up technical death metal perhaps a drop in quality was to be expected because that's what happened here. this feels like a weaker version of The Anthropocene Extinction, which already was a weaker version of Monolith of Inhumanity. Thankfully, Terrasite had the band refining this sound, so the slope ... read more
why am i only finding out about this thing's existence now? wtf
anyway here we have a legendary Metalcore band a legendary Powerviolence band collaborating. the Converge song isn't as good as the version that ended up on the AWLWLB deluxe - it's raw to its own detriment. Dropdead's side also isn't as good as their 1993 S/T material but i'd say i like it more regardless and might revisit it. cool split, basically
if you ask me, Searching for/Destroying a World that Doesn't Exist is a modern classic for Minecraft fiction, so i went "eh, why not review its ost". it's pretty short, with 6 songs clocking it at an overall 10 minutes, and it's pretty good music. gotta say though i was NOT expecting Synthetic Lullaby to hit as hard as it did, especially part 2 - easily the highlight of the soundtrack. the other tracks were also enjoyable but not as much.
basically watch the videos and ... read more
standard death metal, i guess. like so many other albums Chaostream fails to be perpetually interesting
pretty interesting mix of war metal and noise. a bit repetitive but not bad
pure fucking grindcore rage. the noise elements are cool and help it stand out. at 9.5 minutes and 27 songs (the way god intended) this record flies by in the best way possible. good shit
pleasantly surprised by this not being dogshit since most modern metal bands have been going in that direction since last year. however i feel that Burned Time Machine have actually improved their sound a bit since their last album. or it could be that its an EP so im less sick of it. either way i hope they keep stirring with this thing
i’ve been aware of this record’s existence for at least a month now? i always avoided it because i didnt believe i’d enjoy a BDM record that is almost an hour long. but here i am because of a recommendation and yeah i was totally right. not only are these songs not very good, it’s just way too long to enjoy.
Evanescence's loss of personality was inevitable when they brought in Jordan Fish and Zakk Cervini to write this record. I was never a fan, but at least their semi-iconic Fallen has an identity. There is absolutely nothing that sets Sanctuary apart from any other modern metal band, and a lot of these riffs just sound recycled from these two writers' and producers' other works, like the new Poppy album. Couple that with the record being 49 damn minutes, this is truly unlistenable ... read more
hell yeah. Guilt Trip brings the heat on their new album. it's ever so slightly weaker than previous outing Severance but still an exciting offering of Crossover Metalcore. i love their pinch harmonics they just sound so cool with their tuning
Converge's worst since Jane Doe. this is really disappointing because Love is Not Enough is my favorite record by this band and here they are going in the opposite direction of that. instead this is something which i'm not even sure counts as Metalcore - more so sludgy post-hardcore to my ears. there are some good songs on this but overall it's kinda just okay, maybe decent at times. yeah so LINE won't get must hear but this one definitely will because AOTY loves pretentious ... read more
no idea what was going through their mind when they decided to rerecord this album but i guess i gotta listen to the original now
im pretty sure this score is as low as it is only because this album was made by BMTH. you know, a band that's now alt metal/pop rock. that said i cant say i disagree as this is pretty typical early deathcore - that is, it's boring and has shitty breakdowns. BMTH is the rare band that got less heavier but better over time
so raw and so trve. it's kinda boring like a lot of BM though lmao. sorry not sorry
